I’m Richard Fast – a speaker, author, and behavioral insight educator focused on one mission: helping people think better, choose better, and live better through clarity, awareness, and intelligent daily habits.
My career didn’t begin in speaking or writing; it began in entrepreneurship. Years ago, I created the MindTrap® board game, which went on to sell more than four million copies worldwide. It was an incredible experience… followed by some painful failures. Those successes and failures had one thing in common: they were all shaped by decisions that “felt right” at the time — the ones I believed in wholeheartedly — yet many of them led me straight into results I never wanted.
That realization forced me into a deeper question: Why do smart people make bad decisions?
The answer wasn’t intelligence. It wasn’t experience. It was the hidden architecture of the human mind – biases, shortcuts, and blind spots we don’t even realize are influencing us. That insight eventually became the foundation for my book, The Challenge of Choice.
But my work expanded into health for a very personal reason. I reached a point where my own energy, mood, and clarity were declining in ways I didn’t fully understand. What I eventually discovered was that, just like decision-making, most people struggle with health not because they lack discipline, but because they’ve been given strategies that work against their biology. That led to my second book, Obesity… It’s Not What YOU THINK It Is!
To deepen that work, I became a certified ACE health coach and trainer. And the more I studied human behavior, the more I saw a simple truth: better thinking and better health come from the same place – understanding how the mind and body actually function.
Today, I share these insights through two keynotes and a 29-day follow-through system that helps people internalize real, lasting change in just 10 minutes a day.
My approach is grounded, practical, and deeply human. My goal isn’t motivation (that doesn’t last), but rather to help participants see their lives from their own unique perspective. Once that happens, everything else becomes possible.
My wife Michele and I live in Ontario, Canada, and share a passion for health, fitness, and food.
Whether you’re planning a conference, leadership retreat, or organization-wide initiative, the next step is simply a conversation about what you need and how I can help.
